Design 2349 - Designer's Choice 15

This 15' dinghy was developed in the late '70s and produced by Howmar Boats of Edison, New Jersey. She was designed as a trainer for young sailors and to appeal to more experienced dinghy sailors for one-design racing. Almost 1,000 boats were built to this design.

Here's a nice article from Yachting magazine. Please double click for readable view.

  1. This was the first sailboat I ever owned and would love to have another to teach my grandchildren to sail. If I had not been sent overseas, I would have kept the one I had.

    1. The first sailboat I owned was a Hobie Holder 14 (monohull). My current sailboat, a Precision 18, is currently in the water at a marina near Cherry Point MCAS off the Neuse River. On the way back home, I spotted a Designer's Choice 15 sitting out in the weather on its trailer. Next time I go back in a couple of weeks, I'll stop in and ask about it.
