Design 166 - Solution

This pretty boat was designed from our short lived Boston office, with K. Aage Nielsen doing the brunt of the design work. She was built by Crosby Yacht Yard of Osterville, Massachusetts and launched in 1939. Unfortunately this is the only image we have.

Here are the plans.

Take a close look at the construction plan (bottom study plan - above). The deck geometry is shown on the lower portion of the plan view. Note the "T"-shaped cockpit configuration for easy access around the wheel. This is a very early example of this type of layout which is so familiar today.

Principal Dimensions
LOA 46'-2"
LWL 34'-0"
Beam 12'-3"
Draft 5'-6"

  1. My friend now owns this boat (it's in Newfoundland) - I sailed on it from Halifax to St. John's, I have a ton of recent photos. He bought in Boston, needs some TLC.
