Design 1856 - Roundabout

It's impossible to mention Roundabout without mentioning a very similar design that was build at the exact same time at the same yard, design #1857 - Clarionet. They are very similar one-tonners. Both were built at Clare Lallow's yard in Cowes, England and launched in 1966.

More about Clarionet later.

Here are the plans.

An exact sistership to this design was also built at Lallow. Here she is, Rainbow.

LWL 26'-7"

  1. Just a small correction, Rainbow (Rainbow II to be correct) was built in Auckland NZ by Max Carter for Chris Bouzaid in March 1967. She won the 1967 Sydney to Hobart race and the international 1/2 ton cup in 1969 and many others.

    1. Surely Rainbow would have been in the ONE ton Cup ?

Does anybody know what became of Roundabout ? Did hear that she had

been burnt to the waterline but unconfirmed.

  2. Since writng the above I have seen that there is a Roundabout registered with AIS(but no photo) based in Scotland which fits the dimensions. Perhaps she is alive and well after all. Can anybody confirm where she is ?
