Design 2172 - Alpa 36

Introduced in 1973, this motorsailer by Alpa S.P.A. of Cremona, Italy was constructed of fiberglass. The boat was offered with both sloop and ketch rigs. It is yet another example of Rod Stephen's penchant for the type as a roomy cruising boat, albeit somewhat at the cost of beauty.

Here are the plans.

Principal Dimensions
LOA 36'-10"
LWL 27'-3"
Beam 11'-3"
Draft 5'-0"
Displacement 18,197 lbs
Ballast 7,000 lbs
Sail Area 602 sq ft (sloop) 607 sq ft (ketch)
